Week 7 has been full of progress moving forward for the exciting launch. All of the assemblies have been put together and the hardware possess of the project is getting finalized. Now we are working on the software to make our experiments function.
Charge/Voltage
- Made adjustments to assembly to put in working order
- Working on basic stamp code for electric discharge to a run servo motor to move gears
- Waiting for capacitor to arrive
- For static charge the code is working
- Components have been soldered to circuit board
- Will be testing equipment in the bell-jar this week
Solar
- Have totally assembled solar cell components
- Have the basic stamp code working
- Next task will be to test everything in the sunlight to make sure all components are working consistently.
Mercury
- We got the intricate assembly put together
- Our servo motor has been calibrated
- Tested the servo with assembly and it works
- Found a heating source and have purchased it
- Tested pump and figured out flow rate through it
- Now working on basic stamp code
Once all of the sub groups have their code working and finalized, they will be combined on to two basic stamps to work on the timing of all the experiments. The solar sub group will use their own to keep the speed of the servo consistent with the tracking of the sun, and the other experiments will be on another basic stamp. We are all getting excited to see our work be put to the test. Great progress has been made this week.
